Regulatory Reform Policy Paper

HM Treasury published a policy paper setting out the approach to change the management of regulators and regulation in the UK. The purpose of the change is to reduce the regulatory burdens placed on businesses and to improve the efficiency of regulation. Key actions include:

  • Reform environmental permitting legislation for low-risk activities
  • Consultation on changes to definitions within the RIDDOR regulations and consider improvements to the reporting processes
  • Review of older legislation including Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) to remove unnecessary regulatory burdens
