Price Marking Order amendments

Tuesday 10th June 2025

The Price Marking Order 2004 has been amended and the changes will come into force on 1 October 2025. The amendments will change the way in which retailers need to display the prices of their goods. They include:

  • products at different prices (e.g. standard price and loyalty card price) must display the selling price and the unit price for each type of price
  • both the reduced selling price and the reduced unit price during reductions must be displayed
  • prices including selling price, unit price, commission, conversion rate, or VAT changes, must be displayed in a clear and reasonably sized font

In May 2025, the UK Government published another amending text to the Price Marking Order. It makes some slight changes to the 2024 amendments but not impose any additional requirements on businesses.
