Leeds and Bradford law firm Gordons has enhanced its corporate offering with the launch of a new department dedicated to providing legal services to business people accused of committing road traffic offences.

The unit has been set up in direct response to increased rules and regulations governing road traffic law and the specialist team will act on behalf of the rising number of senior professionals and business owners at risk of losing their driving license and facing serious consequences to their livelihoods as a result.

All areas of road traffic law will be covered by the team including speeding, totting up, driving without due care and attention, mobile phone use and using a vehicle without insurance.

John Hall, head of the road traffic department at Gordons, said: “Road traffic law can significantly impact on both individuals and the companies they work for, making it essential for timely legal advice to be sought.

“The specialist road traffic team at Gordons is made up of highly experienced individuals who have a proven track record of successfully ensuring drivers receive the minimum number of penalty points and avoid subsequent disqualification.”

One such team member is Satpal Roth, an experienced solicitor who prior to joining Gordons spent four years working for the Crown Prosecution Service.

She adds: “The time I spent working for the Crown Prosecution Service has given me a valuable insight into how best to present cases to the prosecution to ensure my clients are treated as leniently as possible. This is a factor which I think really sets us apart from other solicitors offering a similar service and also gives clients added confidence in our ability.”

Established in Bradford in 1844, Gordons opened its Leeds office in 2000. The firm’s turnover for the last financial year was £21.2m - an increase of 13.5 per cent from the previous year’s total - and marks the sixth successive year of growth for the firm.

Gordons offers a viable alternative to the international law firms operating in Yorkshire because of the strength of its people, its dynamic approach and its flexibility. Gordons’ focus is to deliver a straightforward, results-driven service which enables the firm to continually exceed its clients’ expectations.

The firm’s clients include Wm Morrisons Supermarkets plc, construction and high performance materials manufacturer Saint Gobain, international brewers Coors and the world’s largest electrical heating business Glen Dimplex.

The firm currently employs 300 people, 180 of which are fee earners. Gordons’ departments include banking and finance, commercial property, corporate, commercial litigation, construction, intellectual property, employment, regulatory, residential conveyancing, personal injury, personal and family.
