What can you expect from us?

The training contract is for 2 years during which time you will complete 4 six month seats in a range of departments.  Departments offered as seats include:

  • Commercial Property
  • Planning & Environmental
  • Construction
  • Commercial Litigation
  • Intellectual Property
  • Corporate
  • Banking & Finance 
  • Business Recovery & Restructuring
  • Employment
  • Contentious Probate, Wills & Trusts 
  • Family Law
  • Personal Law
  • Personal Injury (Defendant) 

Training & support

Each trainee is allocated a mentor on joining the firm, as well as a supervisor to guide you during your seat. Your supervisor will provide you with regular feedback and keep the training partner updated on your progress.  Formal appraisals take place with your supervisor at the end of each seat and handover meetings take place between outgoing and incoming supervisors to help you reach your objectives and develop your skills. 

As well as on-the-job training you will be invited to attend internal seminars taking place within the firm as well as SRA required external training such as the Professional Skills Course.

Marketing & business development

Our trainees are actively encouraged to get involved in the marketing and development of the firm.  This includes representing the firm at business events and getting to know our clients.  

You also have the opportunity to be involved in the promotion of our training contract scheme to prospective trainees through assisting on our recruitment stand at law fairs, and sharing your own experiences with GDL and LPC students through networking events and/or mentoring in conjunction with the local law colleges.
