Our trainees - Sallyanne Veitch

Sallyanne Veitch

Why did you choose Gordons?

I thought it was a friendly firm from the people I spoke to in the careers office at BPP and from the website. Also friends in the legal profession commented how Gordons was known for being a friendly firm. I was also attracted to Gordons as its roots are in West Yorkshire and with a large base of clients from the area.

What academic route did you take before joining Gordons?

I originally did a law degree at Newcastle University and proceeded to do a Masters in Business at Leeds Metropolitan University. I then undertook a graduate scheme with Capita, where I became a senior assistant in the pensions operations team and qualified in PMI. After helping implement Pensions Simplification legislation I decided to do my LPC at BPP Leeds. Following from there I worked as a paralegal in PI and PPI litigation before starting training at Gordons.

When did you start applying for training contracts?

I started applying for training contracts when I was actually on my LPC course 2 years before I started training.

How have you settled into life at Gordons?

I really enjoy working here at Gordons. Everyone I have encountered has been easy to get along with and have helped me settle into my different seats. The whole atmosphere is very welcoming, no doubt helped by the open plan offices.

How did you find the recruitment process at Gordons?

The interview process at Gordons was actually quite enjoyable compared to some of the interviews I have had. We were challenged to form opinions and to argue our case on a topic. In addition there were the usual questions expected and also some new, less anticipated ones. It was clear that not just academics were important.

Describe yourself in 5 words?

Approachable, capable, reliable, organised and ambitious.
