TRAINING INCLUDES:

  • Six-month seats in a number of departments, including:
    • Company/Commercial
    • Commercial Property
    • Litigation (including commercial litigation, civil litigation, personal injury, employment law insolvency and property litigation)
    • Private Client (including personal law, residential property and family law)
  • Regular internal seminars
  • External training
  • Progress is monitored by the firm’s appraisal system
  • Philip Paget, our Training Partner, is actively involved with trainees and is readily accessible to give guidance and support on a personal basis

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
Ideal candidates should be able to answer yes to our personal specification questions:

    ESSENTIAL:
    • Do you have a good academic record?
    • Do you have, or expect to achieve, an honours degree, not necessarily in law, at 2:1 level?
    • Can you communicate well, face to face, by telephone and in writing?
    • Are you computer literate with at least average skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases and the Internet?
    • Are you commercially aware with an understanding of marketing and management?
    • Do you have a friendly, professional manner?
    • Can you demonstrate initiative and foresight?
    • Are you self-reliant and conscientious?
    • Do you remain effective under pressure?
    • Can you demonstrate organisational ability?
    • Are you smartly presented?

    DESIRABLE:
    • Do you have previous work experience in any sphere?
    • Have you ever had experience of a legal environment?
    • Do you hold a current driving licence?
    • Have you got connections in Yorkshire and a commitment to stay in the area?
    • Can you demonstrate a broad range of outside interests?
