Kate Butterfield is a solicitor in Gordons' planning and environmental department.
Kate has specialised in planning and highways law for over 15 years and is ranked as a “leader in her field” by both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.
She has considerable experience in drafting and negotiating complex Section 106 Agreements and Infrastructure Agreements as well as advising on CPO matters, acting for both private developers and local planning authorities.
In recent years, Kate has successfully obtained planning permissions for a number of high profile developments including large scale business parks, town centre regeneration schemes, mixed use developments and city centre projects including Bridgewater Place in Leeds. She also provided advice on a potential biomass scheme.
Kate is well known for advising leisure operators on all their planning requirements. She has acted for a number of motor racing circuits, successfully obtaining planning permission on appeal, defending noise abatement notices and Court of Appeal challenges to those facilities.
She also advises a number of independent schools including Leeds Grammar School in the relocation and expansion of its facilities. Other clients of her’s include; Land Securities and Landmark Developments.
