Matthew Miles is a Solicitor in Gordons' family law department.

Matthew joined Gordons in 2006 and undertook his training with the firm, before qualifying into the family law department in 2008.

He advises clients in a range of privately funded family law matters with a particular emphasis on divorce proceedings and financial settlements on divorce.  Matthew regularly acts for high net worth individuals and cases involving complex trust and pension issues and foreign assets.  He is able to draw on the expertise of corporate, property and private client departments in relation to these issues.

Matthew offers specialist advice in relation to:

  • disputes between cohabitants and TOLATA proceedings regarding ownership of property on relationship breakdown and separation agreements
  • children act matters to include residence proceedings, contact proceedings, specific issue orders such as change of school, parental responsibility orders and international removal of children/leave to remove applications
  • schedule 1 applications for financial provision on behalf of children
  • domestic abuse to include non-molestation orders and occupation orders
  • pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements often to protect inherited/pre-acquired wealth and family assets
  • cohabitation agreements between unmarried couples wishing to live together

Matthew regularly works alongside leading barristers, prominent forensic accountants and financial advisors in divorce cases.

He is an active member of the committee for West and North Yorkshire Young Resolution, a national association of specialist family lawyers committed to resolving disputes in a constructive and non-cociliatory manner.  He also sits on the West and North Yorkshire Committee which organises training seminars, networking events and campaigns for changes in family justice and reform.
