James Fawcett is a Partner and Head of Gordons' corporate department. James joined the firm as a trainee in 1999.
He deals with a wide range of corporate and commercial work with a particular focus on acquisitions and disposals of companies and business, private equity and general corporate and commercial advice. His aim is to build long term relationships with clients with in-depth understanding of their business.
James has particular expertise in the retail, motor trade and healthcare sectors. He also acts for public and private companies, private and institutional investors. His clients include some of Yorkshire's most well known companies such as JCT600, Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, Card Factory and Congregational and General Insurance plc.
Significant deals that James has advised on include:
- advising on the management buyout of Wakefield-based greetings card business Card Factory, backed by funds advised by Charterhouse Capital Partners LLP.
- advising Yorkshire-based car retailer JCT600 on the expansion of its operations with the acquisition of three Audi dealerships for an undisclosed sum.
- advising Yorkshire cosmetics company Badgequo on a tailored funding package from Finance Yorkshire.
- advising the shareholders of risk management solutions provider Intelligent Data Systems (IDS) on its sale to AA DriveTech, the UK's leading provider of driver training, assessment and driver awareness schemes.
- advising Congregational & General Insurance (CGI) on the sale of a majority share of its subsidiary MGA Integra Insurance Solutions to Hannover Re Group.
