Law firm Gordons partners with business development network and city council to boost Bradford's economy
Yorkshire law firm Gordons is working in partnership with the Asian Business Development Network (ABDN) and Bradford Council to help generate economic growth opportunities for the city and its surrounding areas.
The partnership has established a series of quarterly roundtable events to be held in the city which will provide the focus for Bradford’s Asian community to create dynamic relationships that will generate commercial opportunities and create jobs.
The first roundtable has already been held at The Great Victoria Hotel in Bradford and involved 35 Asian and other business leaders discussing the theme ‘Bradford – the place to do business’.
Lester Christie, consultant at Bradford and Leeds-based Gordons, initiated the partnership with the ABDN. “There is clearly a huge amount of potential within the city’s Asian businesses and the objective of the roundtables is to help unlock it through greater integration,” he said. “The first event was a great success and demonstrated the level of interest in creating further economic growth both within Bradford and through untapped links with the sub-continent.”
The inaugural event was also attended by Bradford Council chief executive Tony Reeves, Simon Hill of Yorkshire Forward, Helen West Chief Executive of Business Link Yorkshire and Yorkshire Cricket Club chief executive Stewart Regan. ABDN is planning to work with the club to create closer links between ethnic minority businesses and the local community.
Arshad Chaudhry, chairman of the ABDN, commented: “Our partnership with Gordons and Bradford Council will help raise the profile of Asian businesses within the city and generate commercial opportunities.
“Bradford is also in a superb position to capitilise on its natural links with the sub-continent and we hope to open up a number of commercial opportunities. It is also important for us to assist young Asian entrepreneurs in the city to achieve their goals and we are aiming to create a support network for them backed by roundtable attendees.”
The next ABDN roundtable is scheduled to take place in January. For further information or to register your interest in attending please contact Rob Cowling, marketing coordinator at Gordons, on 01274 709 505 or email rob.cowling@gordonsllp.com
