Gordons launches new service with partner appointment
Paul Ayre, Managing Partner of Gordons LLP with new Contentious Wills, Trusts and Probate Partner Martin Holdsworth

Leeds and Bradford law firm Gordons has launched a contentious wills and probate service following the appointment of Martin Holdsworth, formerly equity partner at Leeds firm Godloves Solicitors.

In his new role Martin will work within the firm’s commercial litigation team providing an additional service to the firm’s family and personal law departments.

Gordons’ managing partner Paul Ayre said: “We have identified contentious wills and probate as a rapidly expanding area of legal work, and in Martin we have secured a very talented individual with wide-ranging experience in this specialist practice area.

“Very few of our competitors in the Yorkshire region provide this level of integrated service involving litigation, family and personal law, and we have already begun to develop further business opportunities because of this new offer.”

Originally from Leeds, Martin has recently completed twelve years in private practice and is shortly to become an associate member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

Commenting on his appointment, Martin said: "Gordons has one of the best commercial litigation departments in Yorkshire and one that is sustaining real growth and was the only firm that I was interested in joining. My specialism naturally complements the firm’s existing family and personal practices and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Married with four children, Martin currently resides near Tadcaster. In his spare time he is a keen mountain climber and skier, whilst he previously played competitive amateur golf.
